Fudō Myō-ō (Acala)

A one-of-a-kind original work depicting Fudō Myō-ō (Acala), a guardian deity revered in Japanese Esoteric Buddhism.

Fudō Myō-ō wields the sword of wisdom that severs earthly desires and delusion. He has long been worshipped as a protector who shields people from misfortune and evil and guides them toward the right path. His fierce expression is not one of anger, but an embodiment of unwavering compassion and an iron will to protect all things.

I have channeled that overwhelming presence and strength into this skateboard. This is not a skateboard with Fudō Myō-ō painted on it — the deck itself is the dwelling of the guardian deity, a presence that watches over its owner and their space.

By fusing the spirituality of traditional Buddhism with contemporary skateboard culture, this piece was completed as a work imbued with the power to protect.
